SC Cruzetinhos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gusmão Novais was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pedro Quinaz's late challenge caught a SC Cruzetinhos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pedro Quinaz helped the player get up and apologised. Eusébio Pegado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Micael Damásio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 17 minutes into the game, Diogo Valente was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Cruzetinhos's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pomaraco the free kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marco Brochado in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Micael Damásio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Eusébio Pegado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Micael Damásio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dércio Espírito Santo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ademar Teves in the 42nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marco Brochado in the 47th minute of play forced SC Cruzetinhos's goalkeeper Micael Damásio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.
