The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Basílio Abreu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidónio Pestana in the 23rd minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Sidónio Pestana kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Basílio Abreu. That made the score 2-1 in the 27 minute of play. In the 32nd minute, Dércio Maciel left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bandavizes fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. If Sidónio Pestana had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.
