Spectators: 7219 (Terracing: 5415, Seating: 1661, VIP seats: 143) Ponta FC's Emílio Dias started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ademar Chagas in the 11th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Baltasar Garcia saved Centrauto Madeira from getting behind. 12 minutes into the game, Avelino Caldas was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Centrauto Madeira's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ponta FC the free kick. After 12 played minutes Centrauto Madeira got a freekick which was hit by Avelino Caldas. After a defensive mix-up in Centrauto Madeira's zone, Ademar Chagas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Baltasar Garcia came out of the goal and Ademar Chagas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gusmão Pestana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Álvaro Quirino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gusmão Pestana in the 18th minute of play. Severino Palha recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When João Belém fell near the penalty area in the 22nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ponta FC's protests and gave João Belém a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Ponta FC getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. João Belém hit a great ball. In the 24th minute of the match, Severino Palha got a very nice opportunity to score, but Álvaro Quirino was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Gusmão Pestana kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Raimundo Gouveia's late challenge caught a Ponta FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Raimundo Gouveia helped the player get up and apologised. After 30 played minutes Centrauto Madeira got a freekick which was hit by Raimundo Gouveia. The supporters of Centrauto Madeira booed when Ponta FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ricardo Póvoas didn't get a good kick on the ball. 37 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Centrauto Madeira's Severino Palha fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. After some fancy dribbling in the 39th minute, Emílio Dias managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ponta FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Emílio Dias was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Baltasar Garcia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Baltasar Garcia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emílio Dias in the 44th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gusmão Pestana to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute Severino Palha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Álvaro Quirino saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 57th minute Emílio Dias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Baltasar Garcia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 59th minute, Centrauto Madeira's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Ademar Chagas fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Ademar Chagas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. If Maurício Palmeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 67th minute, one of Centrauto Madeira:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Centrauto Madeira. Baltasar Garcia made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Ademar Chagas sent off a good shot on target. Álvaro Quirino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gusmão Pestana in the 77th minute of play. 81 minutes into the game, Elias Carmo was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ponta FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Centrauto Madeira the free kick. The supporters of Centrauto Madeira booed when Ponta FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elias Carmo didn't get a good kick on the ball. 84 minutes into the game, Gusmão Pestana cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Álvaro Quirino was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ademar Chagas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Álvaro Quirino took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gusmão Pestana, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Álvaro Quirino came out of the goal in the 95th minute to try and stop a shot by Centrauto Madeira's Severino Palha. But to his dismay, Severino Palha quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. Álvaro Quirino showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Severino Palha, who was totally free with the ball in the 99th minute. When the referee blew the final whistle, Centrauto Madeira could leave the field as winners, despite Ponta FC having more of the ball for most of the match.
