The supporters of Boavista FC booed when Baleia FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Américo Festas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Amável Valido took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Caio Resende, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Boavista FC's Amável Valido played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Teodoro Azenha in the 10th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Lúcio Lessa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Salvador Bessa was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

Boavista FC's Lúcio Lessa got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lúcio Lessa got free with Salvador Bessa in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
