After 21 minutes of play, Hortas's Rui Valadão made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Mário Amaro was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 25 played minutes, Hortas's Caetano Neto shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Mário Amaro came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Hortas reached it. Hermes Pestana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rui Valadão struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Mário Amaro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Hortas. Mário Amaro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rui Valadão, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. In the 39th match minute, SC Alvito was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joaquim Ramos to maneuver through the defense. In the 41st minute of the match Hortas got a corner. SC Alvito's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Caetano Neto ran over to the corner to take the kick. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Pedro Ramos made the kick off in the second half. If Maurício Aleixo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. Maurício Aleixo kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Rui Valadão fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mário Amaro having to interfere. Mário Amaro was out of position in the 68 minute of play, and Rui Valadão capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Rui Valadão really showed his touch with that goal: 0-2. When Rui Valadão came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Hortas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Rui Valadão couldn't finish the play. A hard shot by Miguel Quaresma from long distance, 74 minutes into the match, got Mário Amaro's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. When Pedro Pires was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 76 minutes had been played. The supporters of SC Alvito booed when Hortas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 83 match minutes in a wonderful position. Éder Novais didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 85th minute, Moisés Fraga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 88 minutes into the game, Hortas's Hermes Pestana nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mário Amaro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-3. When the final whistle sounded Hortas left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than SC Alvito.
