With a left leg Vítor Fontoura saved Rio Mondial from getting behind. In the 9th match minute, Curraloes was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Altino Moutinho to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Rio Mondial's Aquilino Leitão got a free kick in the 12th minute. In the 13th minute of the match Manuel Furtado shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vítor Fontoura showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Altino Moutinho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Curraloes's supporters rose to their feet, but Altino Moutinho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vítor Fontoura breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Vítor Fontoura showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Altino Amaro, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Albertino Taborda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Rio Mondial's zone, Albertino Taborda stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vítor Fontoura came out of the goal and Albertino Taborda tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Altino Amaro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Curraloes's supporters rose to their feet, but Altino Amaro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vítor Fontoura breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 37th minute, Altino Amaro left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Curraloes fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Rio Mondial's Salvador Viana got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 47 minutes of play, Curraloes's Albertino Taborda made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Vítor Fontoura was left in no man's land by his defense there! Disappointed in the 0-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Salvador Viana was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th play minute Albertino Taborda came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Vítor Fontoura. 0-4. Albertino Taborda received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Vítor Fontoura tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vítor Fontoura made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Altino Amaro in the 60th minute of play. Alcino Teixeira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hamilton Leiria having to interfere. Altino Amaro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Vítor Fontoura tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Albertino Taborda who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 69thth minute tested the skills of Vítor Fontoura when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 74th minute, Altino Amaro fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Vítor Fontoura, passed just outside the right post. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Altino Amaro in the 75th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vítor Fontoura prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Altino Amaro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 80th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Virgílio Azenha kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. Vítor Fontoura made a fantastic save in the 84th minute, when Albertino Taborda sent off a good shot on target. When Albertino Taborda came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Curraloes fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Albertino Taborda couldn't finish the play. Vítor Fontoura showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Altino Amaro, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Albertino Taborda sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Vítor Fontoura didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 93rd minute, which inside left pole to 0-5. The Rio Mondial fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Curraloes were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
