The Académico do Porto fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eusébio Távora should have stopped the shot. Académico do Porto's Eusébio Távora played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Álvaro Ferreira in the 8th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Diamantino Marinho during the 15th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Diamantino Marinho hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. 18 minutes into the match, Pombas's goalkeeper Álvaro Domingues had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jorge Tinoco. After a rather tough play, Pombas's Álvaro Ferreira got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Pombas's Álvaro Domingues proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 24th minute of the match, managed to save Pombas from getting a goal against them. In the 27th minute, Eusébio Dantas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 28th minute Basílio Lisboa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eusébio Távora saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Pombas booed when Académico do Porto was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jorge Tinoco didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 38th minute of the match Pombas got a corner. Académico do Porto's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. António Figueiredo ran over to the corner to take the kick. Eusébio Dantas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. António Moura kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. 47 minutes into the match, Académico do Porto's goal looked a bit too open when Eusébio Dantas came free, but Eusébio Távora reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eusébio Dantas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 48th minute. Eusébio Távora tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

The wind increased when Isidro Nóbrega made the kick off in the second half. Isidro Nóbrega recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 57th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. During the 60th minute of the match Diamantino Marinho completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Diamantino Marinho a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 61st match minute, Académico do Porto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Diamantino Marinho to maneuver through the defense. If Eusébio Dantas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 63 played minutes Académico do Porto got a freekick which was hit by Danilo Rocha. Through an outstanding action, after 64 minutes, Eusébio Távora successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Basílio Lisboa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 67th minute. Eusébio Távora tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eusébio Dantas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Eusébio Dantas was extremely unlucky when he, in the 77th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Eusébio Távora made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Basílio Lisboa in the 83rd minute of play. If Eusébio Dantas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Eusébio Dantas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Eusébio Távora tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jorge Tinoco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Miguel Novais hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. António Figueiredo took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 97th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Eusébio Távora. Académico do Porto's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The Académico do Porto fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Pombas were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
