José Albuquerque fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 3rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rui Reis having to interfere. In the 6th match minute, Sempre a Malhar was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hamilton Lucena to maneuver through the defense. José Albuquerque scored 1-0 in the 7th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Rui Reis, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ricardo Anjos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdemar Dias having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Sempre a Malhar's Armando Domingos got a free kick in the 14th minute. Valdemar Dias didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cândido Borba went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Rui Reis stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of José Albuquerque's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. When Edgar Lobo came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Sempre a Malhar fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edgar Lobo couldn't finish the play. The crowd rose to their feet as José Albuquerque kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Rui Reis. That made the score 3-1 in the 30 minute of play. In the 33rd minute Henrique Fernandes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valdemar Dias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sempre a Malhar's Valdemar Dias played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cândido Borba in the 35th minute of play. A collision led to Sempre a Malhar getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Hipólito Bernardes hit a great ball. Rui Reis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Albuquerque in the 42nd minute of play. Cândido Borba took the ball and in the 46 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Valdemar Dias. Valdemar Dias dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-2 at half-time.
The wind increased when José Albuquerque made the kick off in the second half. Juvenal lago's late challenge caught a Gozendinho's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Juvenal lago helped the player get up and apologised. In the 54th minute, Juvenal lago hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 55th minute of the match Cândido Queirós sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Valdemar Dias skillfully saved the ball. José Albuquerque struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Rui Reis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sempre a Malhar. In the 62nd minute Edgar Lobo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rui Reis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cândido Borba came free with the goalkeeper in the 64th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Valdemar Dias could save by the left post. Rui Reis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from José Albuquerque in the 66th minute of play. In the 67th minute Fernando Porto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valdemar Dias saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Sempre a Malhar's Armando Domingos got a free kick in the 73rd minute. Valdemar Dias acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 74th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Henrique Fernandes. In a very dangerous position, a player in Gozendinho fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 76th minute. Penalty! Gonçalo Figueiredo charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Gonçalo Figueiredo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling José Albuquerque in the 88th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rui Reis prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Cândido Borba fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 93rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Valdemar Dias having to interfere. 95 minutes into the game, Sempre a Malhar's José Albuquerque nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Rui Reis made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-3. The Sempre a Malhar fans' excitement grew in the 99th match minute when Sempre a Malhar's José Albuquerque looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 6-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene.
