In the 4th minute, Bento Vale hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. SC Guilhafonso's Chico Andrade got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, vitoria de guimarães's Hermínio Ferrão got a free kick in the 19th minute. Quintino lacerda showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chico Andrade in the 25th minute of the match. Jaime Amaral lost his temper 26 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 27th match minute, SC Guilhafonso was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jaime Amaral to maneuver through the defense. In the 28th minute, a hard, long distance shot from Hermínio Ferrão hit the top of the crossbar and flew over the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Frederico Brochado kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Daniel Nascimento. That made the score 1-0 in the 30 minute of play. After 33 played minutes SC Guilhafonso got a freekick which was hit by David Pedroso. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Chico Andrade managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Guilhafonso's supporters rose to their feet, but Chico Andrade was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Quintino lacerda breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Chico Andrade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Alves in the 43rd minute of play forced vitoria de guimarães's goalkeeper Quintino lacerda to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bernardo Taveira's late challenge caught a SC Guilhafonso's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bernardo Taveira helped the player get up and apologised. Bernardo Taveira kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. Daniel Nascimento was a little too slow when Frederico Brochado got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 46th minute. The score was now 2-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Chico Andrade to strike the kick off in the second half. 62 minutes into the game, Chico Andrade cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Quintino lacerda was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 68 minutes, Pascoal Oliveira mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the vitoria de guimarães and the SC Guilhafonso players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to vitoria de guimarães getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Pascoal Oliveira hit a great ball. 75 minutes into the match, SC Guilhafonso's goal looked a bit too open when Gervásio Cesário came free, but Daniel Nascimento reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. David Alves hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. In the 79th minute, Chico Andrade made a precise shot to the right of Quintino lacerda. vitoria de guimarães's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. 84 minutes into the match, Frederico Brochado notched a goal, 3-2, to the right of SC Guilhafonso's Daniel Nascimento. Daniel Nascimento was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 92nd minute Gervásio Cesário shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Daniel Nascimento saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 95th minute, vitoria de guimarães's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Chico Andrade fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Many of SC Guilhafonso's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. SC Guilhafonso may have spent more time on the ball, but vitoria de guimarães were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
