Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Cláudio Sarmento started the match with the kick off. 5 minutes into the game, Álvaro Neto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. BENFICA's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Montarroio FC the free kick. Álvaro Neto hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Aprígio Pais took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nuno Pinhal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Cláudio Sarmento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Montarroio FC's goalkeeper Aprígio Pais, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Aprígio Pais showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cláudio Sarmento, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Cláudio Sarmento received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Aprígio Pais tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cláudio Sarmento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 26th minute, Laércio Portugal hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 27th minute the ball was on its way in behind Montarroio FC's goalkeeper Aprígio Pais, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Vasco Resende recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in BENFICA's zone, Laércio Portugal stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. João Figueiredo came out of the goal and Laércio Portugal tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Joaquim Ferrão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Aprígio Pais tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cláudio Sarmento struck a weak shot in the 40th minute. Aprígio Pais didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for BENFICA. After a defensive mix-up in Montarroio FC's zone, Cláudio Sarmento stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aprígio Pais came out of the goal and Cláudio Sarmento tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Aprígio Pais showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cláudio Sarmento in the 46th minute of the match. If Joaquim Ferrão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Laércio Portugal was the one to do the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cláudio Sarmento in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Aprígio Pais prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 61 minutes into the match, Cláudio Sarmento notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Montarroio FC's Aprígio Pais. Aprígio Pais was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 64th minute Cláudio Sarmento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aprígio Pais saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 66th minute, Cláudio Sarmento got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 70th minute, Cláudio Sarmento left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The BENFICA fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. 74 minutes into the match, Montarroio FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cláudio Sarmento came free, but Aprígio Pais reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Cláudio Sarmento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cláudio Sarmento fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aprígio Pais having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Joaquim Ferrão during the 83rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Joaquim Ferrão kicked well hit freekick during the 83rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cláudio Sarmento in the 87th minute of play forced Montarroio FC's goalkeeper Aprígio Pais to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Joaquim Ferrão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 89 minutes into the match, Montarroio FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cláudio Sarmento came free, but Aprígio Pais reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cláudio Sarmento sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. BENFICA's Joaquim Ferrão got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 95 minutes, Cláudio Sarmento managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. BENFICA's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cláudio Sarmento was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. BENFICA walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
