The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Saúl Pais showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Borba, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. Carlos Viator sent away a hard shot on goal in the 6th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Carlos Viator received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Saúl Pais tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Carlos Viator blasted a shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Saúl Pais having to make a save. 14 minutes into the match, SC Azurem's goal looked a bit too open when Cristiano Figueiredo came free, but Saúl Pais reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. SC Azurem were furious when Nuno Correia was red carded, 15 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. After a rather tough play, SC Azurem's Nuno Correia got a free kick in the 16th minute. Rui Nogueira missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 17 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Saúl Pais right hand side. Tiago Trindade came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by SC Azurem's Isidoro Marinho. But to his dismay, Isidoro Marinho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Marcelino Ranolfo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Saúl Pais having to interfere. 29 minutes into the match, SC Azurem's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Viator came free, but Saúl Pais reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Saúl Pais showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristiano Figueiredo in the 31st minute of the match. Carlos Viator scored 1-1 in the 34th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Saúl Pais, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Bruno Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Tiago Trindade made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aldo Portugal in the 47th minute. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cristiano Figueiredo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. SC Azurem's Saúl Pais played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Viator in the 62nd minute of play. 66 minutes into the match, Cristiano Figueiredo notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of SC Azurem's Saúl Pais. Saúl Pais was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. S.L.Rodas's Carlos Viator was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 69th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Carlos Viator's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Saúl Pais read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. Teófilo Bezerra's late challenge caught a S.L.Rodas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Teófilo Bezerra helped the player get up and apologised. S.L.Rodas's Luís Marques was substituted for Carlos Borba. After 79 played minutes SC Azurem got a freekick which was hit by Teófilo Bezerra. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristiano Figueiredo got free with Saúl Pais in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cristiano Figueiredo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Saúl Pais tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Carlos Viator had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. S.L.Rodas played a much better game than SC Azurem and deserved their victory. The SC Azurem players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
