After 22 played minutes, Faniqueira's Diogo Leiria shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Cristiano Vale came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Faniqueira reached it. After having played for 28 minutes, Daniel Baptista managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Pecene's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Baptista was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cristiano Vale made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucas Moniz in the 32nd minute of play. Hélder Castro hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. In the 39th minute, Amadeu Borba ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Cristiano Vale was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After a defensive mix-up in Faniqueira's zone, Daniel Baptista stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Amílcar Soares came out of the goal and Daniel Baptista tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The supporters of Faniqueira booed when Pecene was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hélder Castro didn't get a good kick on the ball.
