After having played for 8 minutes, Angelo Guedes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. sportingcp's supporters crossed their fingers, but Angelo Guedes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 11th minute, Angelo Guedes left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The sportingcp fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. Aníbal Pittas short, quick shot in the 17thth minute got Vítor Patrício to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 23rd minute of the match Cristóvão Júdice sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but José Esteves skillfully saved the ball. 31 minutes into the match, Aníbal Pitta notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of FC COZMIX's Vítor Patrício. Vítor Patrício was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of FC COZMIX booed when sportingcp was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfredo Neves didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 38th minute of the match, Aníbal Pitta got a very nice opportunity to score, but Vítor Patrício was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. José Esteves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miguel Macena, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Augusto Salvado in the 46th minute of play forced sportingcp's goalkeeper José Esteves to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Óscar Borba to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute Filipe Esteves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Vítor Patrício saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the sportingcp defense, Augusto Salvado kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of José Esteves. The sportingcp fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that José Esteves should have stopped the shot. Vítor Patrício showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aníbal Pitta in the 61st minute of the match. Vítor Patrício made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Angelo Guedes in the 65th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Óscar Borba kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving José Esteves. That made the score 2-2 in the 67 minute of play. When Miguel Macena fell near the penalty area in the 70th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC COZMIX's protests and gave Miguel Macena a yellow card for diving instead. 74 minutes into the match, sportingcp's goal looked a bit too open when Óscar Borba came free, but José Esteves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 75th minute of the match, Augusto Salvado got a very nice opportunity to score, but José Esteves was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After 79 played minutes sportingcp got a freekick which was hit by Humberto Freitas. Aníbal Pitta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Vítor Patrício tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of sportingcp booed when FC COZMIX was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bruno Assunção didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 88 minutes FC COZMIX's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Joaquim Coelho who took care of the corner kick. After 94th play minutes Aníbal Pitta shot 3-2, a short shot which went by Vítor Patrício and just under the crossbar into goal. sportingcp's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
