The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of F C MONSANTO booed when Codecais was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Catarino Faro didn't get a good kick on the ball. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but André Gonçalves showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. André Gonçalves took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Artur Aleixo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Codecais's André Gonçalves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Artur Aleixo in the 17th minute of play. A collision led to F C MONSANTO getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Fernando Borges hit a great ball. In the 39th minute, Mariano Neto had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Américo Coimbra during the 39th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. F C MONSANTO's Jeronimo Lorien was substituted for Mariano Neto. The supporters of F C MONSANTO booed when Codecais was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Henrique Aguiar to make the kick off. After some careless play in the Codecais defense, André Cruz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of André Gonçalves. The Codecais fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that André Gonçalves should have stopped the shot. André Gonçalves showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Artur Aleixo, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. André Cruz took the ball and in the 62 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised André Gonçalves. André Gonçalves dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Henrique Aguiar hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. F C MONSANTO's José Coelho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henrique Aguiar in the 70th minute of play. 77 minutes into the match, F C MONSANTO's Rui Gueifão broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. After having played for 79 minutes, Manuel Santarém managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. F C MONSANTO's supporters crossed their fingers, but Manuel Santarém was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Manuel Santarém fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without André Gonçalves having to interfere.
