But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Julião Mansilha couldn't finish the play. Elias Pinho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Filipe Viegas in the 23rd minute of the match. Filipe Viegas struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Elias Pinho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mogofores. SC Pinduradouro's Elias Pinho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Filipe Viegas in the 27th minute of play. 0-2 became the score in the 31st minute when Filipe Viegas elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. SC Pinduradouro's supporters crossed their fingers, but Julião Mansilha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With a little luck, Mogofores's Emílio Borges got control of the ball when Julião Mansilha tried to sneak it across the goal line. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Carlos Soares got free with Elias Pinho in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Carlos Soares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Carlos Santarém hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match.
