With a little luck, Sporting Clube Aveiro's Fabrício Palhares got control of the ball when Abel Machado tried to sneak it across the goal line. Dércio Macieira charged in rather forcefully in the 41st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dércio Macieira the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 41 played minutes Sporting Clube Aveiro got a freekick which was hit by Dércio Macieira. 43 minutes into the game, Tiago Malheiro was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sporting Clube Aveiro's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Futebol Clube de Vizela the free kick. After 43 played minutes Sporting Clube Aveiro got a freekick which was hit by Tiago Malheiro. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alfredo Trigueiro to strike the kick off in the second half. Fabrício Palhares took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abel Machado, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Abel Machado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Torcato Rego's late challenge caught a Futebol Clube de Vizela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Torcato Rego helped the player get up and apologised. In the 63rd match minute, Sporting Clube Aveiro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Torcato Rego to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Sporting Clube Aveiro getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Torcato Rego hit a great ball. If Abel Machado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fabrício Palhares came out of the goal in the 71st minute to try and stop a shot by Futebol Clube de Vizela's Abel Machado. But to his dismay, Abel Machado quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. After a defensive mix-up in Sporting Clube Aveiro's zone, Abel Machado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fabrício Palhares came out of the goal and Abel Machado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Murilo Soares could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Rogério Neves made a huge save. Sporting Clube Aveiro's Fabrício Palhares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abel Machado in the 88th minute of play. 91 minutes into the match, Sporting Clube Aveiro's goal looked a bit too open when Abel Machado came free, but Fabrício Palhares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 92nd minute, Alfredo Trigueiro fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Futebol Clube de Vizela had played much better football throughout.
