Timóteo Amaro came out of the goal and Júlio Freitas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 蔡弘远 might have been able to make a better finish in the 16th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Timóteo Amaro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. 蔡弘远 ran back to his position shaking his head. After 22 played minutes SC Gontinho got a freekick which was hit by Laércio Guerra. After having played for 22 minutes, Marco Viana managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sporting CP's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marco Viana was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 24thth minute of the game 蔡弘远 who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SC Gontinho's Timóteo Amaro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After having played for 27 minutes, 蔡弘远 managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sporting CP's supporters crossed their fingers, but 蔡弘远 was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 33rd play minutes 蔡弘远 shot 0-1, a short shot which went by Timóteo Amaro and just under the crossbar into goal. 37 minutes into the game, Matias Salgado was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Gontinho's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sporting CP the free kick. In the 37th minute, Matias Salgado hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Manuel Aguiar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Timóteo Amaro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After the first half Sporting CP were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
In the 52nd minute, Júlio Freitas got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 56th minute, Valdemar Figueiredo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Júlio Freitas during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 57th match minute, Sporting CP was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júlio Freitas to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Manuel Aguiar got free with Timóteo Amaro in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 蔡弘远's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 82ndth minute, Timóteo Amaro skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Manuel Aguiar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Timóteo Amaro having to interfere. When Sporting CP's 蔡弘远 in the 95th minute got a chance for a shot 95th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye SC Gontinho's goalie prevented a goal.
