Eliseu Sardinha's late challenge caught a Lakatus United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After 80 minutes of play, SC Arroio's Anselmo Borba made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. António Bessa was left in no man's land by his defense there! With a little luck, Lakatus United's António Bessa got control of the ball when Anselmo Borba tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 85th minute, Mauro Paixão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Honorato Mascarenhas came up free with the goalie in the 95th minute, the Lakatus United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Honorato Mascarenhas couldn't finish the play. SC Arroio's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
