Afonso Carvalho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Valter Pimentel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 5th minute of play. In the 8th minute João Abreu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Valter Pimentel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 9th minute, Tomé Azevedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in G.C.Corroios's zone, Afonso Carvalho stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Valter Pimentel came out of the goal and Afonso Carvalho tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Juvenal Toscano managed to get in a good position for a shot. G.C.Corroios's supporters rose to their feet, but Juvenal Toscano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vasco Castro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to Calendario getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Diogo Amorim hit a great ball. José Campos hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute of the match Evandro Brandão shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Vasco Castro showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Rogério Brito had several of the Calendario's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 20 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Vasco Castro as he didn't even see the shot coming. João Abreu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Valter Pimentel tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 33 played minutes Calendario got a freekick which was hit by Bento Aguiar. A collision led to G.C.Corroios getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Tomé Azevedo hit a great ball. In the 46th minute, João Abreu made a precise shot to the right of Valter Pimentel. G.C.Corroios's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

In the 51st match minute, G.C.Corroios was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernando Antas to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to G.C.Corroios getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Fernando Antas hit a great ball. 59 minutes into the game, G.C.Corroios's Rogério Brito nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Vasco Castro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind Calendario's goalkeeper Vasco Castro, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When João Abreu came up free with the goalie in the 74th minute, the Calendario fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Abreu couldn't finish the play. 83 minutes into the match, João Abreu notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of G.C.Corroios's Valter Pimentel. Valter Pimentel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 90th minute of the match, Afonso Carvalho tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Valter Pimentel saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Vasco Castro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juvenal Toscano in the 91st minute of the match. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
