When Norberto Pires fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Prainha FC's protests and gave Norberto Pires a yellow card for diving instead. Liverpool's António Moniz was substituted for Jacinto Coimbra. After a rather tough play, Prainha FC's Norberto Pires got a free kick in the 35th minute. The long shot by Vicente Anjos in the 40th minute really tested Manuel Palma's skills. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Laurits Irsdal came out of the goal and Cássio Trindade tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 63 minutes, Eskil Törnkvist mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Liverpool and the Prainha FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 63rd match minute, Liverpool was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eskil Törnkvist to maneuver through the defense. Vicente Anjos made in the 64th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Eskil Törnkvist. Liverpool's Laurits Irsdal proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 70th minute of the match, managed to save Liverpool from getting a goal against them. Prainha FC's Manuel Palma played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by António Moniz in the 72nd minute of play. Liverpool's attentive Vicente Anjos managed to snatch the ball when Amílcar Mendes made a throw-in in the 76th minute of the game. 78 minutes into the match, Prainha FC's goal looked a bit too open when Marco Alves came free, but Manuel Palma reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Humberto Cerqueira managed to get in a good position for a shot. Prainha FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Humberto Cerqueira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Laurits Irsdal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
