The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 11 minutes into the game, Hermes Almeida was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Terlamonte's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave EZLN the free kick. Rui Teixeira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vasco lago, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hermes Almeida received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 14th minute. Rui Teixeira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Vasco lago sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rui Teixeira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hermes Almeida in the 22nd minute of play. Rui Teixeira stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Hermes Almeida's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. After 28 minutes, Hermes Almeida made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. EZLN's Rui Teixeira tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 33rd minute there was a penalty for Terlamonte. Cristóvão Flores stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Rui Teixeira. 0-2. Hermes Almeida fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rui Teixeira having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vasco lago in the 46th minute of play forced EZLN's goalkeeper Rui Teixeira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half Terlamonte were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Vasco Gonçalves stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 51 played minutes Terlamonte got a freekick which was hit by Sebastião Bessa. Sebastião Bessa got his second yellow card in the match during the 52nd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of EZLN booed when Terlamonte was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sebastião Bessa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Rui Teixeira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Vasco lago in the 59th minute. Terlamonte's Vasco lago got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Vasco lago received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Rui Teixeira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The EZLN fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Terlamonte were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
