With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jesualdo Alcântara prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Jesualdo Alcântara made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nuno Rangel in the 5th minute of play. Frederico Belém showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Abel Guerra, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. In the 10th minute Abel Guerra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frederico Belém saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Abel Guerra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José Balsemão kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. After some careless play in the C.F.os Belenenses defense, Abel Guerra kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Frederico Belém. The C.F.os Belenenses fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Frederico Belém should have stopped the shot. If Edgar Cortez had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Edgar Cortez came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Gadunho fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edgar Cortez couldn't finish the play. If Abel Guerra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Frederico Belém showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abel Guerra in the 29th minute of the match. Murilo Franco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 30th minute. Jesualdo Alcântara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Noel Pinheiro hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. 35 minutes into the match, C.F.os Belenenses's goal looked a bit too open when Abel Guerra came free, but Frederico Belém reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 39th minute, José Balsemão hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gadunho's Edgar Cortez got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 66th minute, Nuno Rangel got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vasco Bulhosa lost his temper 68 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 70th minute there was a penalty for C.F.os Belenenses. José Travassos stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Jesualdo Alcântara. 1-1. In the 74th minute, Gadunho's Edgar Cortez dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. The C.F.os Belenenses fans' excitement grew in the 89th match minute when C.F.os Belenenses's Nuno Rangel looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind C.F.os Belenenses's goalkeeper Frederico Belém, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 98th minute Murilo Franco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jesualdo Alcântara saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
