In the 38th minute, Gillette FC's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Juliano Esparteiro fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

With a little luck, SSCavaleira's Jaime Teles got control of the ball when Simão Reis tried to sneak it across the goal line. Igor Nascimento lost his temper 62 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 71 minutes, Almiro Avelar mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gillette FC and the SSCavaleira players grew even worse after the yellow card. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 84 minutes, Alexandre Moutinho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
