The crowd rose to their feet as Camarnais's Afonso Ventura slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Korneliusz Ciszewski. That made the score 1-0 after 22 minutes of play. Korneliusz Ciszewski made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Adão Sousa sent off a good shot on target. Académica's Vicente Antunes got a good chance for a goal in the 27th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Afonso Ventura to strike the kick off in the second half. After 54 played minutes Académica got a freekick which was hit by Eduardo Carneiro. Ronaldo Fernandes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vasco Campos, who was totally free with the ball in the 58th minute.
