Spectators: 7255 (Terracing: 5443, Seating: 1668, VIP seats: 144) SL Tiago's Virgílio Mascarenhas started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 3rd minute, Angelo Mota managed to get in a good position for a shot. SL Tiago's supporters rose to their feet, but Angelo Mota was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gastão Peseiro breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alexandre Portugal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gastão Peseiro having to interfere. Alexandre Portugal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Leandro Castanheira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 12th match minute, Cutamas A.C was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Herberto Camargo to maneuver through the defense. Leandro Castanheira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 21 minutes into the match, Virgílio Mascarenhas had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gastão Peseiro. Cutamas A.C's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Virgílio Mascarenhas was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. If Leandro Castanheira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gastão Peseiro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Virgílio Mascarenhas's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. 32 minutes into the game, Telmo Quaresma recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Baltasar Novais. Telmo Quaresma showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. Alexandre Portugal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gastão Peseiro having to interfere. 40 minutes into the match, Virgílio Mascarenhas notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Cutamas A.C's Gastão Peseiro. Gastão Peseiro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Maurício Lemos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Duarte Gois's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Baltasar Novais firmly grabbed it by the left post. The Cutamas A.C players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. SL Tiago were winning 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Amadeu Damásio to make the kick off. Virgílio Mascarenhas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gastão Peseiro having to interfere. Leandro Castanheira was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 55th minute. SL Tiago's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Virgílio Mascarenhas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Leandro Castanheira came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the SL Tiago fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leandro Castanheira couldn't finish the play. Baltasar Novais made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Amadeu Damásio in the 62nd minute of play. Cutamas A.C's Gastão Peseiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Virgílio Mascarenhas in the 67th minute of play. Gastão Peseiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Dantas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Maurício Lemos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Rui Igrejas kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. If Maurício Lemos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Cutamas A.C's Rui Igrejas got a free kick in the 83rd minute. Gastão Peseiro made an important save on a dangerous shot by Angelo Mota in the 84th minute. Alexandre Portugal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Gastão Peseiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Afonso Lustosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 93 minutes, Virgílio Mascarenhas took a quick shot and it went in 1-3 without a chance for Gastão Peseiro to make any attempt to save it. Leandro Castanheira's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Gastão Peseiro read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play.
