Tomás Gaspar made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rodrigo Maia in the 13th minute of play. In the 14th minute, Albertino Sá hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Farminhao FC's Rodrigo Maia got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rodrigo Maia fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tomás Gaspar having to interfere. With a little luck, Lusitano's Tomás Gaspar got control of the ball when Albertino Rocha tried to sneak it across the goal line. Abel Melo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Alexandre Moniz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lusitano's Tomás Gaspar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodrigo Maia in the 26th minute of play. Abel Melo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tomás Gaspar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodrigo Maia in the 30th minute of the match. Albertino Rochas short, quick shot in the 32ndth minute got Tomás Gaspar to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 36th minute António Moniz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomás Gaspar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 39th minute, André Coimbra hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Alexandre Moniz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Caetano Baiano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tomás Gaspar made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Albertino Rocha sent off a good shot on target.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rodrigo Maia to make the kick off. Lusitano's Tomás Gaspar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albertino Rocha in the 52nd minute of play. Tomás Gaspar came out of the goal in the 53rd minute to try and stop a shot by Farminhao FC's António Moniz. But to his dismay, António Moniz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After some careless play in the Farminhao FC defense, Caetano Baiano kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alexandre Moniz. The Farminhao FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alexandre Moniz should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Albertino Rocha in the 71st minute of play forced Lusitano's goalkeeper Tomás Gaspar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 72 minutes into the match, Lusitano's goal looked a bit too open when Rodrigo Maia came free, but Tomás Gaspar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Hugo Almeida had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Albertino Sá during the 84th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The audience was convinced that Rodrigo Maia's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tomás Gaspar was relentless in the 86th minute of the game. A collision led to Lusitano getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. David Leão hit a great ball. The Lusitano supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Lusitano would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
