In the 24th match minute, Azambujeira FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by António Saraiva to maneuver through the defense. Fabrício Malheiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Simão Sousa, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. After a rather tough play, Azambujeira FC's Severiano Trigueiro got a free kick in the 36th minute. Azambujeira FC's Fabrício Malheiro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Simão Sousa in the 40th minute of play. Antonio Gabirel fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabrício Malheiro having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Azambujeira FC's Severiano Trigueiro got a free kick in the 47th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Paulo Vilaverde couldn't finish the play. When the match was over Academia Lusitana could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Azambujeira FC throughout the match.
