Manuel Neto's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Alex Veiga read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Vítor Moura in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Alex Veiga saved Carregosa FC from getting behind. Mário Poças's late challenge caught a SC Palhais's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Mário Poças helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of SC Palhais booed when Carregosa FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mário Poças didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alex Veiga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vítor Moura in the 37th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Carregosa FC's Mário Poças got a free kick in the 38th minute. After some careless play in the Carregosa FC defense, Diogo Miranda kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Alex Veiga. The Carregosa FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Alex Veiga should have stopped the shot. In the 46th minute the ball was on its way in behind Carregosa FC's goalkeeper Alex Veiga, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. SC Palhais's Marco Luz got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The wind increased when Tiago Quental made the kick off in the second half. SC Palhais's Vítor Moura was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 52nd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. If Vítor Moura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 55th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Alex Veiga came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by SC Palhais's Rodrigo Luz. But to his dismay, Rodrigo Luz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. Vítor Moura sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alex Veiga was a little too slow when Vítor Moura got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 62nd minute. The score was now 0-4. An unexpected shot in the 70th minute by Vítor Moura got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. SC Palhais's Vítor Moura got a good chance for a goal in the 72nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 74th minute, Rodrigo Luz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Diogo Miranda might have been able to make a better finish in the 78th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Alex Veiga. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Diogo Miranda ran back to his position shaking his head. Vítor Moura sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 81 minutes into the match, SC Palhais's Diogo Miranda sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Alex Veiga narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 95th match minute, Carregosa FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Serafim Luz to maneuver through the defense. Vítor Moura struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Alex Veiga didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SC Palhais.
