Spectators: 6667 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1667, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Celso Magalhães took the kick off in the first half of the match. Silvano Mascarenhas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Américo Faria in the 5th minute of play. After having played for 7 minutes, Américo Faria managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Folgas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Américo Faria was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 10 minutes into the match, FC Sporting's goalkeeper Silvano Mascarenhas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Carlos Gonçalves. In the 12th minute, Lucas Simões hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Silvano Mascarenhas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Américo Faria in the 15th minute of the match. After 19 played minutes Folgas got a freekick which was hit by Vítor Teixeira. The supporters of FC Sporting booed when Folgas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vítor Teixeira didn't get a good kick on the ball. In a very dangerous position, a player in Folgas fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 29th minute. Penalty! 36 minutes into the match, FC Sporting's goalkeeper Silvano Mascarenhas had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Carlos Gonçalves. Carlos Gonçalves could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 38th minute of the match, but Silvano Mascarenhas made a huge save. In the 45th minute Celso Magalhães shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Adelino Freitas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Carlos Gonçalves to strike the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Folgas's Rui Paiva sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Silvano Mascarenhas narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Carlos Gonçalves received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Silvano Mascarenhas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Anselmo Camargo kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. The supporters of Folgas booed when FC Sporting was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucas Simões didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gusmão Calheiros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 66th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adelino Freitas having to interfere. 72 minutes into the game, Germano Trindade was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Sporting's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Folgas the free kick. If Vítor Teixeira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Folgas's Adelino Freitas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Celso Magalhães in the 77th minute of play. After 78 played minutes Folgas got a freekick which was hit by Eusébio Gaspar. Adelino Freitas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Celso Magalhães in the 79th minute of play. When Vítor Teixeira fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Folgas's protests and gave Vítor Teixeira a yellow card for diving instead. In the 85th minute, Vítor Teixeira hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Celso Magalhães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Folgas's Carlos Gonçalves got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, FC Sporting's Gusmão Calheiros got a free kick in the 91st minute. In the 94th minute Carlos Gonçalves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Silvano Mascarenhas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 95thth minute of the game Carlos Gonçalves who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but FC Sporting's Silvano Mascarenhas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.
