The supporters of Candeeira booed when SC Fial was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Viriato Abreu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Candeeira's Paulino Tavares got a good chance for a goal in the 14th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Cristiano Araújo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 24th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Candeeira's Paulino Tavares was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 28th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Cristiano Araújo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 36 minutes into the game, SC Fial's Sandro Leiria nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Valentim Valentim made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. If Sandro Leiria had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The audience was convinced that Sandro Leiria's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Valentim Valentim was relentless in the 43rd minute of the game. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

SC Fial's Sebastião Lima suffered a sore thigh after 53 minutes and couldn't finish the game. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Matias Leite during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Matias Leite hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. In the 58th minute, Cristóvão Paredes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 61 minutes into the match, SC Fial's goal looked a bit too open when Paulino Tavares came free, but André Ribeiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. André Ribeiro was delighted since he was out of position and the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. With his leg Valentim Valentim managed to avoid a goal in the 81stth minute, when SC Fial's Cristiano Araújo fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side.
