An unexpectedly hard shot by Lúcio Coelho in the 5th minute of play forced Futebol Clube do Porto's goalkeeper 方耀夕 to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 19th match minute, Futebol Clube do Porto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Vítor Freitas to maneuver through the defense. 方耀夕 showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from António Sousa in the 24th minute of the match. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but 方耀夕 showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 方耀夕 made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lúcio Coelho in the 27th minute of play. Paulo Borba took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 30th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for 方耀夕. Futebol Clube do Porto's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 33rd match minute, Futebol Clube do Porto was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Simão Carvalho to maneuver through the defense. In the 40th minute, Lúcio Coelho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Matosinhos FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After 44 played minutes, Matosinhos FC's Paulo Borba shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper 方耀夕 came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Matosinhos FC reached it. After the first half Matosinhos FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Mariano Rocha to make the kick off. Rodrigo Moreira hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Paulo Borba recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 56th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Matosinhos FC's Cláudio Rocha got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 64 played minutes Futebol Clube do Porto got a freekick which was hit by Miguel Sá. After 66 played minutes Matosinhos FC got a freekick which was hit by Duarte Borges. Futebol Clube do Porto's 方耀夕 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by António Sousa in the 70th minute of play. A collision led to Futebol Clube do Porto getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Daniel Aleixo hit a great ball. 方耀夕 made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from António Sousa in the 74th minute of play. 75 minutes into the match, Futebol Clube do Porto's goal looked a bit too open when Lúcio Coelho came free, but 方耀夕 reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cláudio Rocha took the ball and in the 77 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised 方耀夕. 方耀夕 dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. 83 minutes into the match, Futebol Clube do Porto's goalkeeper 方耀夕 had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Duarte Borges. Mariano Rocha blasted a shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jacinto Miranda having to make a save. 方耀夕 took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Duarte Borges, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 98th minute, Miguel Sá hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When the match was over Matosinhos FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Futebol Clube do Porto throughout the match.
