Cristiano Paiva who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 41stth minute tested the skills of Celso Lencastre when he managed to save the team from getting behind. 46 minutes into the game, Rui Ferreira was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Cego do Maio FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cadavao the free kick. The supporters of Cadavao booed when Cego do Maio FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rui Ferreira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Celso Lencastre showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristiano Paiva in the 48th minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Alcides Moita to make the kick off. Hélder Leão made an important save on a dangerous shot by Saúl Neto in the 52nd minute. When Viriato Araújo fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cego do Maio FC's protests and gave Viriato Araújo a yellow card for diving instead. In the 53rd match minute, Cego do Maio FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Viriato Araújo to maneuver through the defense. In the 59th minute the ball was on its way in behind Cadavao's goalkeeper Celso Lencastre, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Fábio Andrade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Fábio Andrade took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Celso Lencastre. Celso Lencastre dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. When the match clock showed 87 minutes, the score became 5-0 when Fábio Andrade sped through Cadavao's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Celso Lencastre. In the 93rd minute, Fábio Andrade got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fábio Andrade in the 97th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Celso Lencastre saved Cadavao from getting behind. Cego do Maio FC's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
