In the 3rd minute, António Gonçalves left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The SC Palaios fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After 6 minutes, Israel Vilanova mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the 16 De Fevereiro and the SC Palaios players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of SC Palaios booed when 16 De Fevereiro was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Israel Vilanova didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adélio Sarmento in the 12th minute of play forced SC Palaios's goalkeeper Henrique Aguiar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. António Gonçalves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Adélio Sarmento received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Henrique Aguiar came out and tried to block the shot, but Adélio Sarmento slotted it home off the left post making it 2-2 in the 30th minute. After some careless play in the 16 De Fevereiro defense, Alexandre Baptista kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Rodrigo Neves. The 16 De Fevereiro fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Rodrigo Neves should have stopped the shot. After some fancy dribbling in the 45th minute, António Gonçalves managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Palaios's supporters rose to their feet, but António Gonçalves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rodrigo Neves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 46 minutes into the match, 16 De Fevereiro's goal looked a bit too open when Alexandre Baptista came free, but Rodrigo Neves reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Disappointed in the 2-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When Abel Sá fell near the penalty area in the 54th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored SC Palaios's protests and gave Abel Sá a yellow card for diving instead. Abel Sá hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. After 55 played minutes, 16 De Fevereiro's Sílvio Bacelar shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Henrique Aguiar came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in 16 De Fevereiro reached it. Henrique Aguiar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Egídio Rodrigues, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 16 De Fevereiro's defense didn't have a chance, in the 68th minute, when Alexandre Baptista scored to the left of an out of position Rodrigo Neves, making the score, 2-4. António Gonçalves recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Artur Assunção came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the SC Palaios fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Artur Assunção couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, 16 De Fevereiro's Nivaldo Resende got a free kick in the 81st minute. 82 minutes in the game, Alexandre Baptista fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Rodrigo Neves having to interfere. Rodrigo Neves made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alexandre Baptista in the 84th minute of play. Rodrigo Neves made an important save on a dangerous shot by António Gonçalves in the 89th minute. António Gonçalves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. SC Palaios's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
