Humberto Faria made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. A collision led to Antoinha getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Miguel Machado hit a great ball. Humberto Faria made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sidónio Peralta in the 20th minute of play. Sidónio Peralta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Vera Cruz's António Correia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Humberto Pacheco in the 28th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Antoinha's zone, Sidónio Peralta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Humberto Faria came out of the goal and Sidónio Peralta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Joel Severiano came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Vera Cruz fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel Severiano couldn't finish the play. Sidónio Peralta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Humberto Faria tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sidónio Peralta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Humberto Faria having to interfere. Sidónio Peralta who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 44thth minute tested the skills of Humberto Faria when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A collision led to Vera Cruz getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Vasco Gaspar hit a great ball. Humberto Faria made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sidónio Peralta in the 47th minute.

The wind increased when Sidónio Peralta made the kick off in the second half. Joel Severiano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 76thth minute of the game Álvaro Moutinho who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Antoinha's Humberto Faria was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Vera Cruz's Sidónio Peralta in the 77th minute got a chance for a shot 77th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Antoinha's goalie prevented a goal. The supporters of Vera Cruz booed when Antoinha was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alexandre Barros didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Adriano Serpa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vera Cruz's supporters rose to their feet, but Adriano Serpa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Humberto Faria breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Sidónio Peralta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 83rd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out.
