Wu Yong showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elias Gouveia in the 17th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Borneiros Gaia F.C.'s Zacarias Cerqueira got a free kick in the 18th minute. Wu Yong was a little too slow when Elias Gouveia got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 23rd minute. The score was now 1-0. After 31 minutes CARREGA FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Zacarias Cerqueira who took care of the corner kick. The corner ended in Zacarias Cerqueira almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but CARREGA FC's Fertus Orbiz did a great save. Simão Castro made in the 35th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Borneiros Gaia F.C.'s Cristi Ronaldo. With a little luck, Borneiros Gaia F.C.'s Wu Yong got control of the ball when João Poças tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 39 minutes, João Poças managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. CARREGA FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Poças was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Borneiros Gaia F.C.'s Wu Yong proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 44th minute of the match, managed to save Borneiros Gaia F.C. from getting a goal against them. Elias Gouveia blasted a shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wu Yong having to make a save. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Andrézinho Gaúcho made a kick off. The supporters of CARREGA FC booed when Borneiros Gaia F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zacarias Cerqueira didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought it was a sure goal in the 63rd minute, when Borneiros Gaia F.C.'s Cristi Ronaldo after having done a great run through the defense got himself free with Fertus Orbiz in CARREGA FC's goal and fired away a shot, but it missed the goal by a fraction of an inch. In the 69th minute Elias Gouveia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wu Yong saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Wu Yong made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Poças in the 71st minute of play. João Poças fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wu Yong having to interfere. Elias Gouveia struck a weak shot in the 75th minute. Wu Yong didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for CARREGA FC. Adelino Madruga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Elias Gouveia came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the CARREGA FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Elias Gouveia couldn't finish the play. Borneiros Gaia F.C.'s Wu Yong played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by João Poças in the 83rd minute of play. If Elias Gouveia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 90 minutes, Adelino Madruga managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Borneiros Gaia F.C.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but Adelino Madruga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 92nd minute, João Poças made a precise shot to the right of Wu Yong. Borneiros Gaia F.C.'s defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Elias Gouveia during the 94th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 94 played minutes CARREGA FC got a freekick which was hit by Elias Gouveia. 98 minutes into the game, Maciej Dubiel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Borneiros Gaia F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave CARREGA FC the free kick. Maciej Dubiel kicked well hit freekick during the 98th minute of the match. Borneiros Gaia F.C.'s players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
