GRiSP's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sporting FC the free kick. The supporters of Sporting FC booed when GRiSP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ryan Newland didn't get a good kick on the ball. André Moita came free in the 10th minute and tried to tip the ball over Levi Hanmark, but to the joy of GRiSP's supporters the ball hit the crossbar and out. Virgílio Baía recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Levi Hanmark made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laureano Malta in the 16th minute of play. If Laureano Malta had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lourenço Bezerra received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 21st minute. Israel Lustosa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 25 minutes into the match, GRiSP's goal looked a bit too open when Virgílio Baía came free, but Levi Hanmark reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Sporting FC's Silvério Junqueira got a free kick in the 27th minute. Levi Hanmark showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laureano Malta in the 29th minute of the match. In the 31st minute, Virgílio Baía ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Levi Hanmark was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Laureano Malta sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Saúl Seixas might have been able to make a better finish in the 42nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Levi Hanmark. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Saúl Seixas ran back to his position shaking his head. 48 minutes into the game, Sporting FC's Laureano Malta nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Levi Hanmark made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Laureano Malta made a kick off. Virgílio Baía fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Levi Hanmark having to interfere. GRiSP's Levi Hanmark proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save GRiSP from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lourenço Bezerra in the 79th minute of play forced Sporting FC's goalkeeper Israel Lustosa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, GRiSP's Levi Hanmark got control of the ball when Virgílio Baía tried to sneak it across the goal line. Virgílio Baía had several of the GRiSP's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 83 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-3 score and a disappointed Levi Hanmark as he didn't even see the shot coming. Laureano Malta received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 88th minute.
