Spectators: 6774 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1774, VIP seats: 0) Purgacal's Leonel Tomé started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. SC Pelicanos's Cândido Pires played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leonel Tomé in the 5th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Purgacal's Santiago Guimarães got a free kick in the 6th minute. Palmiro Bezerra didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Rui Esteves went, in the 11th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. In the 14th minute, Sérgio Freitas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Purgacal's Leonel Tomé in the 16th minute got a chance for a shot 16th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Dimas Fernandes charged in rather forcefully in the 30th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Dimas Fernandes the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 31 minutes, Heitor Neto mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the SC Pelicanos and the Purgacal players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Purgacal booed when SC Pelicanos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Heitor Neto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Sérgio Freitas hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. A collision led to SC Pelicanos getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Oliveira Neto hit a great ball. Lisandro Lages's late challenge caught a SC Pelicanos's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lisandro Lages helped the player get up and apologised. Palmiro Bezerra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rui Paredes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Leonel Tomé sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. António Freire sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rui Paredes to make the kick off. After recieving a nice pass, Purgacal's Idalécio Quinaz tried to score from far away in the 64th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 70 minutes into the match, SC Pelicanos's goal looked a bit too open when Leonel Tomé came free, but Cândido Pires reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 71st minute, Leonel Tomé got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When António Freire came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Purgacal fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that António Freire couldn't finish the play. Cândido Pires showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leonel Tomé, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonel Tomé in the 83rd minute of play forced SC Pelicanos's goalkeeper Cândido Pires to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Oliveira Neto hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. Cândido Pires didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 87th minute, which inside left pole to 1-1. After a defensive mix-up in Purgacal's zone, Rui Esteves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Palmiro Bezerra came out of the goal and Rui Esteves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Leonel Tomé sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Purgacal players were the happier at the end of the match as they had prevented SC Pelicanos from taking control. The game ends in a draw.
