The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Nuno Sampaio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elias Serpa in the 4th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Elias Serpa kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nuno Sampaio. That made the score 1-0 in the 5 minute of play. In the 9th minute, Clube Futebol Belenenses's Jacinto Cerqueira ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Nuno Sampaio. Nuno Sampaio yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. Nuno Sampaio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Leal Esteves in the 14th minute. After a rather tough play, Clube Futebol Belenenses's Jacinto Cerqueira got a free kick in the 15th minute. After some careless play in the Clube Futebol Belenenses defense, Geraldo Sacadura kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Octávio Ferraz. The Clube Futebol Belenenses fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Octávio Ferraz should have stopped the shot. In the 20th minute, Elias Serpa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 21st minute, Geraldo Sacadura sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Clube Futebol Belenenses's Octávio Ferraz didn't even have to move. In the 22nd minute, Carlos Manso left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Scarrone FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-2. Telmo Fontes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Nuno Sampaio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Domingos Faria's late challenge caught a Clube Futebol Belenenses's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Domingos Faria helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Scarrone FC getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Domingos Faria hit a great ball. Nuno Sampaio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jacinto Cerqueira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 35 played minutes Scarrone FC got a freekick which was hit by Evandro Malheiro. 36 minutes into the match, Scarrone FC's goalkeeper Nuno Sampaio had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Leal Esteves. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacinto Cerqueira in the 41st minute of play forced Scarrone FC's goalkeeper Nuno Sampaio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nuno Sampaio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jacinto Cerqueira, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. In the 46th minute, Leal Esteves made a precise shot to the right of Nuno Sampaio. Scarrone FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 4-2. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-2. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jacinto Cerqueira stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Scarrone FC's goal looked a bit too open when Telmo Fontes came free, but Nuno Sampaio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jacinto Cerqueira in the 59th minute of play forced Scarrone FC's goalkeeper Nuno Sampaio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Nuno Sampaio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Leal Esteves, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Scarrone FC's Nuno Sampaio played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jacinto Cerqueira in the 74th minute of play. In the 77th minute Leal Esteves shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nuno Sampaio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 79th minute the ball was on its way in behind Scarrone FC's goalkeeper Nuno Sampaio, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Humberto Onofre fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Octávio Ferraz having to interfere. Joaquim Figueira took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 86th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nuno Sampaio. Scarrone FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Domingos Faria was shown his second yellow card after 87 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. Jacinto Cerqueira might have been able to make a better finish in the 89th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Nuno Sampaio. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jacinto Cerqueira ran back to his position shaking his head. Nuno Sampaio made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Leal Esteves in the 91st minute of play. Nuno Sampaio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jacinto Cerqueira in the 92nd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Leal Esteves in the 93rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nuno Sampaio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 94th minute, Carlos Manso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 97 minutes into the match, Jacinto Cerqueira had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nuno Sampaio. Scarrone FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jacinto Cerqueira was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-2. Clube Futebol Belenenses were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Scarrone FC for a fine match.
