Henrique Santarém came free with the goalkeeper in the 12th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Nivaldo Lucena could save by the left post. After 14 played minutes GDB got a freekick which was hit by Henrique Santarém. João Eanes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jarbas Castelo Branco having to interfere. Jarbas Castelo Branco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from João Eanes in the 19th minute of play. After having played for 21 minutes, João Eanes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Odivelas FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but João Eanes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ramiro Alcântara charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ramiro Alcântara the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Odivelas FC getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Ramiro Alcântara hit a great ball. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Adelino Meireles in the 57th minute of play forced Odivelas FC's goalkeeper Nivaldo Lucena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
