Adelino Meireles fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Lucílio Benevides having to interfere. 13 minutes into the match, Almeidas FC's José Bettencourt sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jarbas Castelo Branco narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jarbas Castelo Branco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jesualdo Faria in the 17th minute of the match. The referee felt a red card was in order, 18 minutes into the game, when Rui Sardinha put in a rough tackle. In the 20th minute there was a penalty for Almeidas FC. Alexandre Lima stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Jarbas Castelo Branco. 1-0. After having played for 23 minutes, José Bettencourt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Almeidas FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but José Bettencourt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when José Mendes got free with Jarbas Castelo Branco in the 27th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jarbas Castelo Branco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Bettencourt in the 29th minute of the match. After 31 played minutes GDB got a freekick which was hit by Artur Jordão. In the 32nd minute, Alexandre Lima sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and GDB's Jarbas Castelo Branco didn't even have to move. In the 36th minute, Henrique Santarém made a precise shot to the right of Lucílio Benevides. Almeidas FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. José Bettencourt recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to GDB getting a freekick after 41 minutes play. Nicolau Poças hit a great ball. José Bettencourt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jarbas Castelo Branco having to interfere. Jarbas Castelo Branco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Bettencourt in the 48th minute of the match.

José Mendes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jarbas Castelo Branco having to interfere. José Bettencourt took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jarbas Castelo Branco. Jarbas Castelo Branco dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. In the 65th minute José Bettencourt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jarbas Castelo Branco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jarbas Castelo Branco took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Mendes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 68th match minute, GDB was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Jordão Medeiros to maneuver through the defense. In the 71st minute, José Mendes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jarbas Castelo Branco showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from José Mendes in the 76th minute of the match. In the 77thth minute of the game José Bettencourt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but GDB's Jarbas Castelo Branco was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 79th minute of the game. One of GDB:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Almeidas FC:s goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling José Bettencourt in the 85th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jarbas Castelo Branco prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If José Mendes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. GDB's Jarbas Castelo Branco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Bettencourt in the 88th minute of play. If José Bettencourt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. José Bettencourt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jarbas Castelo Branco read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. José Bettencourt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Jarbas Castelo Branco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 97 played minutes GDB got a freekick which was hit by Jordão Medeiros. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Almeidas FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while GDB had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
