Os Lagartos were furious when Leonel Carmona was red carded, 6 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 6th minute of the game. One of Os Lagartos:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Green Lion:s goal. In the 10thth minute of the game Honorato Garcia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Os Lagartos's Gusmão Vilarinho was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 12 minutes into the match, Honorato Garcia had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Gusmão Vilarinho. Os Lagartos's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Honorato Garcia was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Honorato Garcia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Green Lion's supporters rose to their feet, but Honorato Garcia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gusmão Vilarinho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gusmão Vilarinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Honorato Garcia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. António Magalhães took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gusmão Vilarinho. Gusmão Vilarinho dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. In the 30th minute, Gregório Gomes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gusmão Vilarinho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Saúl Caneira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. António Magalhães kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Honorato Garcia in the 36th minute of play forced Os Lagartos's goalkeeper Gusmão Vilarinho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. António Magalhães sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Simão Colaço stood somewhat misplaced when Diamantino Palhares came free in front of goal and shot 1-3 to the left of him in the 39 minute. In the 45th minute, Honorato Garcia made a precise shot to the right of Gusmão Vilarinho. Os Lagartos's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-4. The Os Lagartos players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Green Lion were winning 1-4.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Honorato Garcia was the one to do the kick off. Honorato Garcia kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. In the 54th match minute, Green Lion was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Govert Kool to maneuver through the defense. In the 61st minute Honorato Garcia shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gusmão Vilarinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gusmão Vilarinho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Honorato Garcia in the 63rd minute. Zacarias Cordeiro hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. After 65 played minutes, Green Lion's António Magalhães shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Gusmão Vilarinho came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Green Lion reached it. António Magalhães fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gusmão Vilarinho having to interfere. Gusmão Vilarinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Honorato Garcia, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Green Lion's Simão Colaço played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diamantino Palhares in the 74th minute of play. The supporters of Green Lion booed when Os Lagartos was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Vilaverde didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Os Lagartos's Gusmão Vilarinho got control of the ball when António Magalhães tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marcos Amaral sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Gusmão Vilarinho came out of the goal in the 84th minute to try and stop a shot by Green Lion's António Magalhães. But to his dismay, António Magalhães quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-5. A collision led to Green Lion getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Govert Kool hit a great ball. Gusmão Vilarinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Honorato Garcia, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. When the match was over Green Lion could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Os Lagartos throughout the match.
