Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Estevão Peixoto kicked off to start the match. Hermano Carrasqueira made in the 8th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Paulo Cardoso immediately put the ball in play. The supporters of Sporting CP booed when SC Sopegal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. José Lessa didn't get a good kick on the ball. 24 minutes into the match, SC Sopegal's Donato Fiúza sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hermínio Martins narrowly saved just below the crossbar. A very good chance. Jerónimo Durães's late challenge caught a Sporting CP's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. After 62 minutes of play Sporting CP's Henrique Parente was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. After a rather tough play, Sporting CP's Henrique Parente got a free kick in the 62nd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Paulo Cardoso in the 71st minute of play forced Sporting CP's goalkeeper Hermínio Martins to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 75th minute, Virgílio Damásio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 76th match minute, Sporting CP was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Virgílio Damásio to maneuver through the defense. Sporting CP's Aparício Padilha quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Lázaro Frois, made in the 81st minute of the game. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. SC Sopegal walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
