Álvaro Veloso hit a great ball. If Cassiano Maciel had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 13 minutes into the match, LFC's goal looked a bit too open when Cassiano Maciel came free, but Romão Padilha reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 14thth minute of the game Cassiano Maciel who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but LFC's Romão Padilha was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the match had gone on for 14 minutes, Cassiano Maciel put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Romão Padilha. The audience thought a goal was coming when Rogério Faria got free with Armando Faso in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 23 minutes into the match, Alfred Madajczyk had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Romão Padilha. LFC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alfred Madajczyk was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. When the match had gone on for 28 minutes, Cassiano Maciel put it in 0-4 from a short distance just to the right of Romão Padilha. In the 38th minute, Messines's Alcino Ribas seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Alcino Ribas the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Messines protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Alcino Ribas had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Messines fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 37th minute. Penalty! The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Álvaro Veloso during the 43rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 43rd minute, Álvaro Veloso hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Romão Padilha made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cassiano Maciel in the 45th minute of play. Cassiano Maciel recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Cassiano Maciel made the kick off in the second half. When Messines's Cassiano Maciel in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. If Burhanettin Ozansu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 71st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cassiano Maciel in the 80th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Romão Padilha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Joel Barcelos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Armando Faso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Álvaro Veloso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Messines's Cassiano Maciel slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Romão Padilha. That made the score 1-10 after 86 minutes of play. Damião Couto hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Cassiano Maciel scored 1-11 in the 96th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Romão Padilha, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Messines played a much better game than LFC and deserved their victory. The LFC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
