Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Lavallén Pelon started the match with the kick off. After 10 played minutes Sport Maia got a freekick which was hit by Jerónimo Avelar. Mário Falcão took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 11th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Albérico Igrejas. Sport Maia's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Rafael Franco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lavallén Pelon in the 14th minute of play. After 15 minutes, Jorge Rego mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Canario FC and the Sport Maia players grew even worse after the yellow card. Jorge Rego hit a great freekick 15 minutes into the match. Sport Maia's Lavallén Pelon got a good chance for a goal in the 16th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Canario FC's zone, Lavallén Pelon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Rafael Franco came out of the goal and Lavallén Pelon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that Flávio Lessa's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Albérico Igrejas was relentless in the 21st minute of the game. Canario FC's Rafael Franco played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lavallén Pelon in the 23rd minute of play. Sport Maia's Hilário Malheiro got a good chance for a goal in the 26th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 28 minutes into the game, Apolo Bihar cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Rafael Franco was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After having played for 31 minutes, Emmerich Hatschek managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Sport Maia's supporters crossed their fingers, but Emmerich Hatschek was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 32 minutes into the match, Canario FC's goal looked a bit too open when Lavallén Pelon came free, but Rafael Franco reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Lavallén Pelon came up free with the goalie in the 33rd minute, the Sport Maia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lavallén Pelon couldn't finish the play. A very nice done corner allowed Emmerich Hatschek to score against Rafael Franco in Canario FC's goal. 0-2 after 36 minutes. Canario FC's Raul Carvalhais got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 44th match minute, Canario FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Flávio Lessa to maneuver through the defense.

Rafael Franco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Emmerich Hatschek in the 54th minute of play. In the 59th minute, Emmerich Hatschek got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rafael Franco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lavallén Pelon in the 62nd minute of play. Lavallén Pelon took the ball and in the 63 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rafael Franco. Rafael Franco dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. Hilário Malheiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rafael Franco having to interfere. Emmerich Hatschek sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 72nd minute, Flávio Lessa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Sport Maia booed when Canario FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Claudemiro Noronha didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hilário Malheiro struck a weak shot in the 78th minute. Rafael Franco didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sport Maia. Emmerich Hatschek sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Albérico Igrejas showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raul Carvalhais in the 86th minute of the match. After 87 minutes of play, Sport Maia's Hilário Malheiro made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rafael Franco was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Herberto Trigueiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match was over Sport Maia could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Canario FC throughout the match.
