After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, André Carneiro managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Cortinhas's supporters rose to their feet, but André Carneiro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Zacarias Portugal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jacinto Tomé's late challenge caught a SC Cortinhas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jacinto Tomé helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of SC Cortinhas booed when F.C. Valinor was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jacinto Tomé didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 7th play minutes Lázaro Azevedo shot 1-0, a short shot which went by Zacarias Portugal and just under the crossbar into goal. A collision led to SC Cortinhas getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Joaquim Guerreiro hit a great ball. Joaquim Guerreiro might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zacarias Portugal. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Joaquim Guerreiro ran back to his position shaking his head. 14 minutes into the match, Lázaro Azevedo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zacarias Portugal. F.C. Valinor's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lázaro Azevedo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. In the 25th minute Laureano Malheiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Timóteo Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Timóteo Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Laureano Malheiro in the 29th minute of the match. A collision led to F.C. Valinor getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Jacinto Tomé hit a great ball. A sloppy throw-in by Filinto Pedroso in the 46th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by SC Cortinhas's Frederico Garcez. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Laureano Malheiro made the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Lázaro Azevedo in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Zacarias Portugal saved F.C. Valinor from getting behind. Joaquim Guerreiro scored 3-0 in the 55th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Zacarias Portugal, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Zacarias Portugal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lázaro Azevedo, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Leonardo Festas during the 64th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 64th minute, Leonardo Festas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 66th minute, Daniel Durães left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The F.C. Valinor fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-1. After 68 played minutes F.C. Valinor got a freekick which was hit by David Taveira. 79 minutes into the match, Lázaro Azevedo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Zacarias Portugal. F.C. Valinor's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lázaro Azevedo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-1. SC Cortinhas made a substitution. Aristides Garcez replaced André Carneiro. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lázaro Azevedo in the 83rd minute of play forced F.C. Valinor's goalkeeper Zacarias Portugal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Leonardo Festas hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. SC Cortinhas's Jesualdo Sacadura was substituted for Joaquim Guerreiro. In the 85th minute, Leonardo Festas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Lázaro Azevedo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Zacarias Portugal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lázaro Azevedo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jesualdo Sacadura fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zacarias Portugal having to interfere. In the 93rd minute of the match Sérgio Soeiro sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Zacarias Portugal skillfully saved the ball. SC Cortinhas's Lázaro Azevedo got a good chance for a goal in the 94th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in F.C. Valinor's zone, Aristides Garcez stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zacarias Portugal came out of the goal and Aristides Garcez tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The SC Cortinhas fans cheered their team off the field, for while F.C. Valinor had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
