Alex Gueifão was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 8 played minutes Sport Clube Lusitania got a freekick which was hit by Jerónimo Lobo. If Lucílio Figueiras had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Renato Vargas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Diamantino Vaz, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eloy Hats during the 17th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Eloy Hats kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Mateus Sacadura received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Renato Vargas came out and tried to block the shot, but Mateus Sacadura slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 19th minute. A collision led to Sporting Clube de Gaya getting a freekick after 21 minutes play. Mário Rocha hit a great ball. A hard shot by Paulo Vilaverde from long distance, 22 minutes into the match, got Renato Vargas's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fredy Montero in the 25th minute of play forced Sport Clube Lusitania's goalkeeper Alex Gueifão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Renato Vargas came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Sport Clube Lusitania's Diamantino Vaz. But to his dismay, Diamantino Vaz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. After 37 played minutes Sport Clube Lusitania got a freekick which was hit by Domingos Candeias. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fredy Montero in the 42nd minute of play forced Sport Clube Lusitania's goalkeeper Alex Gueifão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alex Gueifão showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fredy Montero in the 44th minute of the match. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

The wind increased when Fredy Montero made the kick off in the second half. Eloy Hats struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Alex Gueifão didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting Clube de Gaya. 54 minutes into the match, Fredy Montero had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Alex Gueifão. Sport Clube Lusitania's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fredy Montero was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fredy Montero in the 57th minute of play forced Sport Clube Lusitania's goalkeeper Alex Gueifão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sporting Clube de Gaya's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Fredy Montero in the 62nd minute. With an all-out effort, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Alex Gueifão threw himself towards the right post 63 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Lucílio Figueiras, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 63 minutes into the game, Lucílio Figueiras cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-3. Alex Gueifão was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 66th minute Eloy Hats shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alex Gueifão saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alex Gueifão took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fredy Montero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Renato Vargas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diamantino Vaz in the 74th minute of play. Renato Vargas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulo Vilaverde, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Lucílio Figueiras fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alex Gueifão having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Olívio Leme in the 79th minute of play forced Sport Clube Lusitania's goalkeeper Alex Gueifão to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fredy Montero who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 80thth minute tested the skills of Alex Gueifão when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 82nd minute, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Fredy Montero dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-4. Sporting Clube de Gaya's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sport Clube Lusitania the free kick. Renato Vargas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristiano Pinhal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eloy Hats got free with Alex Gueifão in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Renato Vargas made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mateus Sacadura in the 96th minute of play. Sporting Clube de Gaya's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
