If Rodrigo Ribeiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 19th match minute, CD Pinhalnovense was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by João Pinhal to maneuver through the defense. Ixaka Barcaiztegui showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rasmus Højlund, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. When Daniel Coutinho fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CD Pinhalnovense's protests and gave Daniel Coutinho a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, CD Pinhalnovense's Daniel Coutinho got a free kick in the 23rd minute. Loures's Rasmus Højlund got a good chance for a goal in the 24th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When João Pinhal came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the CD Pinhalnovense fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that João Pinhal couldn't finish the play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Rasmus Højlund to make the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling João Pinhal in the 83rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Norberto Linhares prevented the ball from getting in the gole.
