In the 11th minute of the match F.C. Paços de Ferreira got a corner. mar-azul's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Igor Tudor ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led to F.C. Paços de Ferreira's Nino Moi getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Péter Mészáros stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Roberto Pacheco's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. When Manuel Álvares fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored mar-azul's protests and gave Manuel Álvares a yellow card for diving instead. In the 26th match minute, mar-azul was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manuel Álvares to maneuver through the defense.
