In the 3rd minute Roberto Pacheco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Qiu Chuan Ran saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s Claudemiro Madureira got a free kick in the 7th minute. In the 8th minute, Roberto Pacheco ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Qiu Chuan Ran was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Ahmet Turan Ayberk fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Qiu Chuan Ran having to interfere. When Ahmet Turan Ayberk fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored mar-azul's protests and gave Ahmet Turan Ayberk a yellow card for diving instead. 14 minutes into the match, Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s Gonzalo Lixandro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Estevão Lemos narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Raimundo Ventura sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Raimundo Ventura in the 36th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Estevão Lemos saved mar-azul from getting behind. Qiu Chuan Ran made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roberto Pacheco in the 39th minute of play. Qiu Chuan Ran showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Murilo Fernandes in the 40th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Murilo Fernandes to make the kick off. In the 54th play minute Gonzalo Lixandro came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Estevão Lemos. 1-2. Qiu Chuan Ran breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 67th match minute, Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Menelaos Damianos to maneuver through the defense. Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. made a substitution. Modesto Bras replaced Israel Carvalhal. Ahmet Turan Ayberk's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Qiu Chuan Ran read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. mar-azul's Estevão Lemos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gonzalo Lixandro in the 72nd minute of play. In the 78th minute, Diogo Quinaz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Murilo Fernandes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s Raimundo Ventura got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 86 minutes into the match, Roberto Pacheco notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s Qiu Chuan Ran. Qiu Chuan Ran was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After some careless play in the Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. defense, Roberto Pacheco kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Qiu Chuan Ran. The Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Qiu Chuan Ran should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Murilo Fernandes in the 93rd minute of play forced Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s goalkeeper Qiu Chuan Ran to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Qiu Chuan Ran made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Murilo Fernandes in the 95th minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The mar-azul fans cheered their team off the field, for while Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
