In the 5th match minute, Pontefract was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Chidiebere Adikwu to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ibezimako Obida in the 8th minute of play forced Pontefract's goalkeeper Erfan John Erhenede to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Bo Maifata struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Tamarautare Ngoka didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pontefract. When Fred Nwilene came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Harold Hill fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fred Nwilene couldn't finish the play. Ibezimako Obida might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Erfan John Erhenede. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ibezimako Obida ran back to his position shaking his head. When Fred Nwilene came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the Harold Hill fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fred Nwilene couldn't finish the play. Fred Nwilene fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erfan John Erhenede having to interfere. Habakkuk Taura struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Tamarautare Ngoka didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pontefract. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 36th minute of the game. One of Harold Hill:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Pontefract:s goal. In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Pontefract's goalkeeper Erfan John Erhenede, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

After a defensive mix-up in Pontefract's zone, Fred Nwilene stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Erfan John Erhenede came out of the goal and Fred Nwilene tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 58th minute, Benjamin Etuhu made a precise shot to the right of Erfan John Erhenede. Pontefract's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. When Fred Nwilene came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Harold Hill fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fred Nwilene couldn't finish the play. Habakkuk Taura was extremely unlucky when he, in the 68th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Pontefract's goalkeeper Erfan John Erhenede, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Habakkuk Taura fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 76th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Tamarautare Ngoka having to interfere. Choice Adedoyin hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Fred Nwilene sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fred Nwilene received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Erfan John Erhenede tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 90 played minutes Pontefract got a freekick which was hit by Beluchi Iheanacho. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Harold Hill players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
